What happens if you run out of Farm Share before the end of the season?

You can add credit to your Farm Share at any time throughout the season.  We recommend a $300 Farm Share for 1-2 people and any amount up to a $600 Farm Share for veggie lovers and families.  Produce prices will be the same as last year with only minor exceptions and the prices at Our Farm pick-up will be identical to the prices at the Downtown Windsor Farmer’s Market location.

Can you pick up some weeks at the Farm or in the city and other weeks at the Market?

No, to keep things simple we will not have farm share pick up at the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market.

Late or Missed Pick-up Policy

Shares not picked up will be stored in the cooler room for later pickup for a week after which we will donate it. If you know at least 24 hours in advance that you are unable to pick up, please contact us at the farm and we can cancel your box.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are we certified organic?

No, we like to think of ourselves as beyond organic

We operated as a certified organic farm for several years but will no longer hold a third party certficaton. We feel it has been an unnecessary expense and an arduous to maintain for our small family farm.  We are confident that we've always surpassed organic standards and will contiune to do so. Our goal at Our Farm Organics is to be as passionate and transparent as possible when it comes to our farming methods. We perfer to bridge the  gap between customer and farmer, and bring you closer to your food and how it is grown.

Why a Farm Share model and not another CSA?

The traditional CSA model requires the customer to accept a level of risk that Our Farm Organics is not comfortable asking of our members.  In a CSA model, if the farmer doesn’t grow enough food, or if some crops fail, the customer could get less food than they paid for.  This is considered sharing the risk and supporting your farmer.  The CSA model requires customers to accept a box of food each week chosen by the farmer.  It may contain items the member doesn’t want and too small of quantities of the items a member does want.  Some CSA’s also offer only one size of share which can be prohibitive to singles or smaller families.

We decided to come up with a new innovative model (though it is gaining in popularity!) to better serve the people who support Our Farm.  We call it the Farm Share, because we are honoured to share Our Farm with you!  In the Farm Share model, there is no risk for the members who support us by buying a Farm Share.  No value is ever lost from missed weeks or poorly performing crops.  Customers are free to select the produce they want in the quantities they want.  The Farm Share program offers full flexibility and control by the customer.

How long is the season?

A typical CSA runs around 20 weeks.  Last season we provided local produce for 24 weeks and we ran for 26 weeks during the 2015 season..

What type of produce can you expect?

We grow over 50 different crops.  Here is just a sample of what we’ll be offering:

Early in the season we’ll have bok choy, cilantro, snow peas, snap peas, lettuce, green onions, radish, parsley, carrots, strawberries and asparagus. Middle of the season we start harvesting beans, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, melons, garlic, basil, cucumbers, and beets.  Late in the season we’ll have brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, turnips, potatoes, squash, fennel, onions and cauliflower.  There will be multiple plantings of several of these crops to ensure availability throughout.

As always, we offer greens all season long: kale, chard, collards and lettuce.

How long have we been in operation?

Our Farm Organics has been growing organic food for fifteen years and operating a Community Supported Agriculture program for 10 of them.

I love everything about our farm organics farm share.  You are able to custom build your baskets with a good variety of delicious freshley picked produce.  Leslie offers convenient pickup locations plus you can pick up anything else you need at the market.  I suggest going out to her amazing farm to see all the great work she and her farm family do for us.  Plus as a bonus you can get eggs and delicious organic meats from her.  I have purchased goat, chicken, turkey and pork products and I plan on buying more.  Thank you Our Farm Organics.  I can't wait until next season!!!  Holly

So pleased!  Our first time signing up for a farm share and the big draw was the organic local produce! It was nice to be able to select what we like to eat and in quantities that work for our family. When we were away our share portion wasn't a wasted week, loved the freedom to pick and choose! we will be signing up again next year! Kyrstin

Here are some comments we received at the end of our 2014 season:

We are a family of four who absolutely love the produce Our Farm Organics offers. The quality and variety cannot even compare to other options we've tried in the area. I appreciate the flexibility of the program. I like to choose exactly what we want and need any given week and don't have to worry about when we're away. The various pick-up locations, days and times make getting our fresh food an easy process and very accommodating for different schedules. I'm glad we found a farmer who's values and beliefs about food and food security align so well with our own. We are so grateful for all you do and can't wait for the upcoming season! You can't help be a part of the family that Our Farm Organics has created. Your experience from start to end is nothing but love. As a business owner it has been amazing to get to know Lesley. Not only is she a business partner to me but she is a friend as well. To be a part of a community dedicated to sustainability, and creating a healthy food landscape for our future generation has been such a growing experience. I'm beyond grateful to be able to provide tasty, healthy, nutritious, beautiful, non GMO food as a result of Lesley's commitment. I'm looking forward to what this season has to offer. Tara co-owner of the Sunflower Organic Cafe.

It has been a wonderful experience over the past few years to be a part of Lesley's farm community. Lesley's commitment to providing healthy, truly organic, non GMO produce is such a blessing to all. I really enjoy how Lesley has set up her farm share, where I can request whatever produce and amount I would like for the week, and with Kim's help, they keep track of purchases throughout the season. I mainly purchase for myself and find I will have enough left on my tab to get extra colder storage produce towards the end of the season as well as extra produce to freeze. They provide such a wide and interesting variety of vegetables all of excellent quality. Not only are tummies filled, but also the soul. I have been truly inspired getting to know Lesley and Kim's families. Mary Ann M.

I want to thank you for what you are doing.
I know it's a lot of work to organize, pick, pack and bring to markets.
YOU are changing lives.
Cancer was the reason why I bought a farm share and because of you I was able to eat your yummy organic food and fill my body with healthy nutrients.
Talking to someone who hand picked your food is so humbling to the soul.
Thank you again for a great season. You have given me more than just veggies.
Heather C.

The Farm Share program has been an incredible experience! There is a vast variety of produce to choose from, both from Our Farm Organics and their many contributors. The prices are more than fair, and the quality of the produce is beyond expectations. For anyone who truly cares about the food that they put in their families' bodies, I would highly recommend the Farm Share program. Our Farm Organics and the Labbe family farm are a model example and an inspiration to those of us who are trying to live a healthy and organic lifestyle. Paul L.

I have been involved with Our Farm Organics for several years now and I love it. It is the highlight of my week pulling up to the picturesque farm and then going home with a delicious assortment of fresh produce. The Labbe family (and everyone that is involved with the farm) are so friendly and accommodating. Our Farm Organics is so much more than a place to buy produce. I have had an opportunity to try new produce and learn valuable tips about storing, preserving and preparing the produce. Seeing the free range chickens wandering around while the children and the dog play in the yard are all part of the experience for me. Thanks for all your hard work, it certainly shows in the final produce. T. Park

This is our second year having a farm share with Our Farm Organics and we love it. I love that we get to choose our baskets each week and also people have the choice of paying cash per week. We will for sure come back next season for more yummy fresh organic produce. We are vegans and love the variety of items we can get each week which concludes of course tasty vegan meals that we end up with. Our three young children love visiting the farm to pick our own food if we like or just enjoy the farm animals or feeding the baby pigs treats and goats some grass and holding newborn chicks. Let's not forget the bail of hay to climb which my kids also love! Local organic is the way to go for our family so thank you so much Our Farm Organics. Cory and Rachel M.
